Job Summary
As an Industrial Control Specialist based at our manufacturing facility in Macon, GA, you will be accountable for providing control &a; instrumentation assistance to the manufacturing team in terms of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Upgrading hardware and software programming to all site control systems including PLC, instrumentation, drives, SCADA, and HMI systems to replace obsolete equipment, improve performance and drive down the total cost of ownership.
  • Identifying and resolving the common cause and special cause issues that impact plant reliability and performance.
  • Investigating manufacturing problems and recommending corrective actions such as consulting with production personnel, analyzing the supporting data, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Developing detailed designs, specifications, and budgetary capital estimates for control system projects.
  • Participating in any acceptance testing and commissioning activities.
  • Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded.
  • Ensuring local craftsmen are trained on new and existing control systems throughout the plant by either delivering training personally or coordinating the requirements.
  • Participating in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment.
  • Providing leadership and technical support regarding machinery safety systems, in particular the safety-related parts of the control system. (Design, Verification, Modification, Fault fining on Interlocked guarding, safe torque off, safe speed etc.)

Required
Experience:

  • Bachelor&s;s degree in Controls related field (Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics etc.) or relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3
    years of control experience in a manufacturing environment
  • PLC and HMI programming experience with Rockwell suite of products, Allen Bradly
  • Experience with Wonderware application programming and support
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

Qualifications:

  • Database systems, i.e. SQL Server 2012
  • Networked system design and configuration
  • 480 VAC power distribution
  • 4160V motors and controls
  • AutoCAD

About the location (Macon GA)
Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong&s;s customers. Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space. It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world. The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.
