Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Current R.
N.
licensure by the State Board of Nursing Experience with administrative and supervisory techniques BLS certification preferred.
Good physical health condition and pass a physical examination ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff, and effective employee relations.
Communicate effectively with all employees and supervisors to ensure a positive and clear understanding of goals and direction.
Maintain quality and operational effectiveness in the areas of resident care, admissions, and State HFR compliance.
Conduct routine performance meetings and competency checks with staff to ensure effectiveness and quality of care.
Instruct and maintain all training and required records in accordance with state regulations regarding Proxy caregivers in the Personal Care Home setting.
Apply policies and procedures to maintain proper compliance, and care, and to create value for existing and prospective residents.
Assist and provide oversight with residents' daily living activities:
report changes in resident conditions to management and primary care physician if necessary, remind and supervise residents with self-administration of medications, and support residents in making a smooth transition into the facility.
Perform resident assessments and carry out direct care to new admissions, residents with acute illness, residents with a sudden change of condition, etc.
Contact resident sponsor and/or home health/hospice/EMS about the resident's condition promptly as needed.
Ensure the same through the supervision of direct care staff.
Ensure the operational effectiveness of the medication room, med carts, and personal care stations, including ensuring appropriate medications, wound care supplies, and treatment supplies are present.
Ensure the medication room, med carts, and personal care station are clean and orderly.
Also ensure there is a proper quantity of needed medications in stock and as coordinated with the pharmacy, physicians, etc.
Ensure accountability for narcotics.
Become proficient with the use of an internal system (PointClickCare) and communication log, while maintaining other such records as required to actively track incidents, illnesses, and happenings concerning the residents and staff.
Ensure that time and quality standards established are being met or exceeded and without error, including medication passes, general resident care, charting, filing, and other duties.
Assist in developing resident care plans and keep them updated to fit resident care needs, including activities of daily living (showering, walking, toileting, etc.
).
Ensure daily attendance of scheduled staff that allows for adequate floor coverage within allotted budget parameters.
Be willing to fill any hourly position, as needed.
Maintain understanding and awareness of the Department of Community Health's Healthcare Facility Regulation Division's Rules and Regulations for Personal Care Homes, interpret them appropriately and apply them to effectively achieve and maintain operational effectiveness.
Ensure the Director and/or ED is kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of your facility and of important factors affecting any/all operations.
Supervise and evaluate work performance in terms of resident care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
Identify resident service problems and assist in their solutions.
Ensure that assistance with activities of daily living is carried out as directed and medication is administered in accordance with physicians' instructions.
Maintain a safe environment for residents.
Operate and supervise the operation of specified equipment assigned to the facility and provide assistance and guidance as required.
Prepare and maintain residents' records, including medication administration records and other pertinent documentation related to the services provided by personnel including resident progress notes.
Investigate and report complaints or unusual occurrences to appropriate persons.
Assist with orientation for new personnel to job requirements, equipment, and other personnel.
Instruct personnel concerning new care techniques, procedures, and equipment.
Evaluate individual work performance through observation, spot-checking work completed, and conferences.
Promote staff development.
Attend meetings of supervisory and administrative staff to discuss facility operation and staff training needs and to formulate programs to improve these areas.
Interpret personal care home policies and regulations to staff members, residents, families, and visitors, and ensure conformance.
Participate in the quality assurance program.
Attend in-service education classes as required and obtain a required number of hours per year.
Maintain infection control standards by use of universal precautions.
The associate is authorized to have unlimited access to resident health information as needed to provide treatment, for billing purposes or the purpose of healthcare operations.
Provides support by accurate record-keeping, answering phones, participating in care planning for residents, giving and taking a report for each shift.
Represents Baptist Village Retirement Communities by practicing effective communication with residents, families, and visitors, maintaining the confidentiality of residents/families in and outside of the work setting.
Completes other tasks/duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Director, or his/her designee.
