Pest Control Technician- Wildlife
Job Summary
Service accounts of residential and commercial wildlife customers.
Job Function and Responsibilities
Able to identify wildlife pests
Knowledge of biology and proper treatment and control methods for wildlife pests
Keen understanding of inspection requirements for wildlife pest problems in residences and commercial establishments
Knowledge of state rules, regulations and laws regarding the control, trapping, and dispatching of wildlife
Knowledge of residential, commercial and remodeling construction and building techniques
Visit customers' premises and perform thorough inspections to determine proper course of treatment
Familiarity with safety and us of all equipment used to execute treatments and control methods
Utilize good craftsmanship and good building practices
Draw diagrams of problem areas of infestation
Determine best long-term solutions for infestations and implement them
Interact and ask questions of customers to determine best treatment solutions
Explain the procedures of treatment and answer all questions
Sell company services to existing and prospective customers
Accurately report findings of all inspections and complete reports thoroughly
Perform recommended treatments or corrective actions in the control of wildlife including exclusions, trapping, and removal
If utilizing product, follow all product label instructions and safety precautions specific to each product and service
Follow all company procedures/protocols associated with the specific job
Inspect all work and ensure problems are resolved
Report problems, concerns, or issues to manager as quickly as possible
Maintain complete and accurate records of all work performed
Turn in qualified leads to the Service Center office for follow-up
Use safety equipment, wear protective gear, and follow safety procedures
Maintain equipment in good working order and ensure that you are properly equipped for job
Call/schedule appointments or work closely with other employees to schedule appointments
Imperative that you have good communication with the office staff
Make and accept numerous phone calls
Follow instructions and directions from sales and service center management
Complete internal reports as requested by manager
Participate in meetings as required by manager
Attend all service center training meetings or other specialized training and read all training material to include quarterly continuing education training for Household Pest Control (HPC) and Wood-Destroying Organisms (WDO), Public Health and/or additional training categories deemed necessary by management
Perform other duties as required by management
Comply with all state and federal regulations
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Continually study the biology, habits, and control methods of wildlife pests
May assist in training of new employees
May wear protective gear as needed and required by label standards
May maintain a company vehicle
Required Qualifications and Experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Time Management
Basic math skills
Ability to pass any state regulatory agency required licensing/certification exams
Able to work a 40 hour (minimum) work week
Possess current Driver License in the state where you work
Ability to pass background and drug screening tests
Has less than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years and no DUI/DWI in the past 7 years
High school degree or equivalent
Physical Requirements
Constant mobility including walking, crawling, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, looking, probing, climbing, pushing, pulling, balancing, stretching and standing for long periods
Climbing into attics and crawling in crawlspaces
Operation of hand and power equipment
Listening to loud noise from tools and equipment
Long hours of physical labor
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Driving of vehicle
Work both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
May withstand extreme conditions such as heat in an attic in Summer or chill of crawlspace in Winter
Exposure to vegetation, dust, dirt, insects and animal remains
Some work in cramped spaces
